MAS published its final Guidelines on Artificial Intelligence Risk Management on 7 October 2026. We are pleased to host a session unpacking what these Guidelines mean for fund directors and managers.
Join us as Shantanu walks us through the key changes and practical implications for your firm.
- Scope: The guidelines apply to all MAS-licensed financial institutions and to all AI use cases. There is no exemption by size or level of use; even basic AI use attracts a baseline of governance.
- Board and senior management oversight: The guidelines set out explicit board responsibilities, including approving the AI risk management framework and risk appetite, and reviewing AI risk on a regular cycle.
- Inventory and risk materiality: FIs are expected to maintain an inventory of AI use cases, systems and models, and to assess the risk materiality of each use case on three dimensions: impact, complexity and reliance. Controls then scale in proportion to that rating.
- Phased implementation: The guidelines take effect in two tranches: the governance, oversight, inventory and materiality expectations first, followed by the lifecycle controls and capability expectations in a later phase.
Whether your firm is just beginning to assess its AI use or already has governance frameworks in place, this session will help you understand where you stand and what steps to take next.
